Make it a Trap

Thanksgiving always evokes colonial feelings for me. There's just something warm and comforting about this fall time festival. Maybe it's the leaves changing colors which you don't see much of in Houston. However, H-Town is such a glitzy town that the Spicy Earth Eye Shadow Quad works under the city lights.

The metallic gold and bronzes metals in this Eye-Shadow Quad Remind me of foliage in the Midwest which is just as comforting as reading Toile wallpaper. Spicy Earth  $ 22.50

     HIGH CLASS HOOD

Ralph Lauren is the perfect inspiration for thanksgiving this year especially in the hood. Yes you can do this. This year, lets TRAP THANKSGIVING out!

The link below is an official Thanksgiving playlist.

COCKTAILS

These ghetto fabulous cocktails evoke warm and fuzzy fall feelings using cranberry juices and apple ciders. Serve with Chex Mix before the meal.

Conjure and Cider

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz of Conjure Cognac
4 oz Apple Cider
Apple wedge

Directions:
Add Conjure Cognac to an ice-filled rocks glass. Top with apple cider and stir. Garnish with apple wedge.

Lets not forget the eggnog. Mixed with Hennessy and spiced rum. Last holiday season I mixed the eggnog with Hennessy only and something was missing. So add sum rum and I think it will work.

AUTUMN SALAD

Bag of field greens
Dried cranberries or raisins
Sunflower seeds
Pumpkin seeds
Cheese
Cherry tomatoes
Dijon dressing with honey mustard
This dressing recipe is perfect. However, 2-3celery stalks can be used instead of apples.

Now for the greens. If you don't eat pork, you can use a turkey hind or wing instead.

If you are serving cornbread and dinner rolls, this Jiffy recipe is the best.

Of course there must be mashed potatoes and gravy. Potatoes can be doctored up with sour cream and chives.

Can't forget about the gravy.

Macaroni and Cheese

2 boxes of Kraft Macaroni
1 cup of sour cream
2 cups of grated cheddar cheese
1 cup of bread crumbs

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cook both boxes of Kraft Macaroni and cheese according to directions in a large pot. Stir in sour cream and half the grated cheddar cheese. Pour mixture into a 9 x 13 pan. Spread evenly.  Sprinkle bread crumbs on top. Cook in oven for 20-30 minutes or until the macaroni is bubbly and done. Sprinkle the rest of the cheddar cheese on top. Put in oven for 5 more minutes until cheese melts.

This pie is actually delicious. It's already put together. All you have to do is put it in the oven. You may have to cook it for longer than 20 minutes depending on your oven. Make sure it's nice and done. Serve with ice cream.

The bird is definitely the highlight of Thanksgiving. What you want on your table is Popeye's already cooked frozen turkey. It's costs around $39.95. So go ahead and put your hand out for it.

To pre-order your own whole bird before they sell out, call or visit your local Popeyes restaurant and schedule a pick-up for the date of your choice.

Note:
Serve ice water
Sweet tea
And Arbor Mist wine in fall flavors like Black Berry Merlot, , cherry, pomegranate and mixed berry.

2 Days before:
Thaw out turkey in the fridge. Buy all the groceries you need.

1 Day before:
Make Autumn salad, cornbread, macaroni and cheese and greens.
Set the table

Day of:
Heat turkey early in the morning. Make the dressing. Make the potatoes while dressing is in the oven.
While guests are enjoying mixed drinks, put the pies in the oven. Don't forget about them.
When you take them out, refresh your guests drinks.

FOR THE HOSTESS

This bling fringe necklace is  perfect for the thanksgiving hostess to wear. Guests will be impressed. $5
